More than 50% of cervical cancer cases and cervical cancer deaths in the developing world occur within the Asian-Pacific region. In fact, the three countries with the highest burden of disease of cervical cancer in the world (India, China and Indonesia) fall within this region. Without the implementation of major initiatives, such as national screening or HPV vaccination programs, the burden of cervical cancer in the Asia-Pacific region is predicted to increase to represent 62% of worldwide cancer cases by 2025.
In response to this we have developed an expert multi-disciplinary group within the region, similar to those developed for Europe and Latin America, such as and along the lines of European Research Organization on Genital Infection and Neoplasia (EUROGIN) and / European Course on HPV Associated Pathology Virus (ECHPV). Asia-Oceania Research Organisation in Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN), works with health care workers (as well as the lay public), particularly those in women’s health, with the goal to undertake and optimise collaboration and research, scientific exchanges, education and training, providing information, surveys and audits. AOGIN brings together clinicians and scientists whose work is related to genital infections and neoplasia.

Vision and Mission
AOGIN's vision is to reduce the burden of disease caused by reproductive tract infections, especially HPV, in the Asia, Oceania and Pacific region. Furthermore, AOGIN's mission is to work with governments, non-governmental organisations, learned societies, health care workers and the lay public, to communicate, cooperate and share information and tools in order to reduce this burden of disease.
